19 July, Opening Day of the ‘Hailey Park Loop Bridge’
At 10am on Friday 19 July the Hailey Park Loop Bridge will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff.
After several years of planning, we are now able to celebrate the completion of the renovations of the Hailey Park Loop Bridge! The historical bridge links the two sides of the River Taff, Danescourt and Llandaff North, allowing more accessible walking and cycling opportunities for the local and wider communities of Cardiff.
The Loop Bridge was constructed in 1900 to provide a bypass loop from the former Radyr marshalling yard on to the Taff Valley Railway at Llandaff Station. The bridge played an important part for industries in the Glamorgan Valleys as it provided a link for distributing coal and other goods.
Come along for the opening event, learn more about the industrial heritage of the bridge and take part in a group cycle ride led by Sustrans or a group walk led by Walking for Health. The opening day is in collaboration with the Friends of Hailey Park, Local Access Forum Members and Cardiff Council.
