IMPORTANT INFO From Monday 15 October the path from the changing rooms along to the river/bridge will be closed for safety reasons for approximately 4 months. Some plant machinery will be kept on site in a small compound near the bridge with a security detail attached.
This scheme will link the footways in Hailey Park and those running
west of the river to join the Taff Trail.
The contract has now been awarded and the works are planned to start week commencing 15 October 2012.
The work is scheduled for 16 weeks depending on the weather condition; however, the bridge is now scheduled to finish end of April 2013.
It consists of the refurbishment of the bridge deck; removing the existing cantilevered walkways, parapets and stone ballast; steelwork repair; surface preparation; repainting and a new bridge deck surface and drainage system (photographs on right by ranger Gareth Stamp).
The scheme has been predominately funded by S.106 monies received from the development at Radyr sidings.
Once the bridge has been refurbished then 2 of the paths leading from the bridge will be upgraded. See HERE for details of the Cart Rd 52 Pathways Project.
