LATEST NEWS

We managed to raise enough needed to match the grant, and even better news is we’ve been awarded the full grant we asked for.

Hopefully we’ll be on target for completion by the summer holidays

Fundraising

So far so good. But, why did we have to fundraise when most if not all our money for projects on the park comes from grants. For the play regeneration scheme it was decided to apply for a landfill tax grant (making use of this facility before it disappears once Lamby Way itself goes). A requirement for this grant though is that we have to raise money within the community. This means we have to find £4170!

How are went about this
Children from some of the local schools have already been out and about trying to help. The local cafe, Lew's Coffee Shop, which is a great community place in itself, has already organised a night of live music and auction in The Royal Exchange at the beginning of April.

  • Cake sale at Hawthorn School has raised a fantastic £61. thank you Ashley and friends!
  • Tombola stall run by the Friends raised £60 the other week
  • Donations are coming in via membership renewal forms - many thanks to everyone who has donated this way
  • Many thanks to local businesses, James & Jenkins and Cartwrights (both Station Road, Llandaff North), and Simon Kirke (ex drummer Free & Bad Company) for their kind donations.
  • Saturday 24 March: sponsored bike ride by two 9-year-old boys from Llandaff North to Castell Coch - many thanks Ewan and Ashely
  • On Sunday 1 April Live @ The Royal Exchange: A Night of Music and Charity Auction raised over £500. A huge thanks goes to Lewys at lew's Coffee Shop for organising this wonderful event and to Lorraine for letting us use the Exchange!
  • Friday 13 April: Article in Echo highlighting the project HERE
  • Saturday 14 April (12-2pm): The Children's Spring Fete at the community centre raised about £360. Many thanks to everyone who came along to support us and all those who helped out on the day. Many thanks also to Alan for letting us use the Llandaff North Community Centre for this great event.
