AGM, 24 November 7pm

After many months, we are now able to restart meetings and what better to start with is the AGM. This time around we need a great deal of support as the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary posts on the committee will be vacant this year and need to be filled or the group can't continue. We will also be asking for one or two more committee members too.
The current Chair, Penny Bowers, will be stepping back after 12 years. Penny would like to spend more time with her main passions connected to the park, which are nature in all its forms and dogs on the park.
Anyone wanting to join the committee basically its all voluntary and you make of the group what you want.
Date of AGM will be Weds 24 November, 7pm at the Railway Pub on Station Road, Llandaff North.

The latest in one of our new features is from Rob Wedlake from the Tennis Squad and Russell Todd (FoHP Committee) remembering schools tennis then and now as part of the Sporting Heritage project on Hailey Park.

Weather with you

Looking out today you can't but want to sing Crowded House and begin "Walking 'round the room singing "Stormy Weather"" so thank goodness the decision was made on Tuesday to change the date of the tennis taster sessions to yesterday instead of today. And what a day it was. Rob the coach was amazing with the kids, of whom we had over 30 from Pencae, Hawthorn and Glan Ceubal schools in total. Cllr Dilwar Ali came over too to join in the fun.

Weather changes play dates

Owing to the forecast of heavy rain for Thursday 30 September, we have decided to
  • postpone the 11.30–1pm National Sporting Heritage Day (#NSHD2021) reception to a date to be confirmed (sadly the Friday forecast looks just as bad)
  • bring forward the ‘open door’ tennis coaching session with Rob Wedlake and Ellie Lewis from Tennis Squad to 3–5pm Wednesday 29 September (tomorrow). ALL WELCOME & FREE
Email us or phone committee member Russell on 07749 279481 for any other details for tomorrow

Sporting heritage week of tennis

More tennis fun on the park with Year 4 from Ysgol Pencae. Great to see interest in the legacy of Claude Hailey and his achievements, and then stopping for a spot of tennis before the monsoon began.

Anyone for tennis

Even though the rain didn't stop play on Hailey Park tennis courts when Pencae Year 3 visited the park, we've hit off with the start to Sporting Heritage week. They were finding out about Claude Hailey and the history of the park then stayed around for a spot of tennis. #NSHD2021 Podcasts
